It's made by slow-cooking sweetened condensed milk with cocoa and butter until thick and fudgy, then hand-rolling each one and finishing with toppings like sprinkles, crushed cookies, or coconut flakes.

No. They're good at room temperature for up to 5 days — keep them somewhere cool and dry. The fridge is there if you want to stretch that to 14 days. Just let them sit out for 10 to 20 minutes before eating so they're not cold, which brings the flavor and texture back. That said, some people prefer them cold and there's nothing wrong with that.

Is this appropriate to send to a hospital?

Yes — we get a fair number of hospital and recovery-room deliveries. Just confirm the recipient can have sweets before ordering, and consider a smaller box if you're unsure how long they'll be there.
